Sure this had been gone over. But just watched the first season. Sweet lips in a 150 gal tank?

And also how do they get away with 50-100 fish in some of these tanks?
    Massive skimmers?

Also some of the fish they put in these tanks are known as hard to keep (some of the butterfly's). Any chance these people with limited knowledge manage to keep these fish alive?

    No ro/do water?

    Instantly adding fish?

    So much wrong here!

And I hate the "coral inserts" lol

What about the skateboard ramp tank where the actually use it as a ramp and pound on it. Whatever happened to no tapping on the glass???

Or the guy that put a large tank in his basement and filled it with sharks and fish instantly?? Or the telephone both with like 20 yellow tangs??

Im pretty sure most of these fish end up dead in a short period of time. Some of their tanks end up on ebay. Ive watched the show because I like fish and my favorite part is when they go pick fish out at that distributer, I would love to have access to a store like that. At the same time though they really minimize any actual reef keeping experience or knowledge and make the show about stupid gimmicks. I almost never watch the show know its so disgusting what they do, the only good setup I saw them do was for a rick homeowner who they had built a large DT for awhile back that wanted a large QT system built so he could add fish to the DT without risking disease. That was the only one I can think of watching that had any kind of decent information/advice to a novice reefer

Personally, from what I've heard of this show, I wouldn't lend my support by watching. Maybe if they had too few viewers, Tanked would get Canned.

Im sure it wont be long. I stopped watching a long time ago and only watch a random rerun when nothing else is on. Never did see fishtank kings I heard that one was a decent show

I often wondered about that show, I watched it once or twice and thought about the same thing. What! No cycling of the tank? Are they by passing that part for the show, but let it cycle before concluding? I stopped watching faster than it took me to view it that once or two time. Seemed to me everything I learned about the hobby was exactly what they didn't do.

Yea they install their newly built tank and put in "live ocean from the sea that contains all the bacteria" and t hen the fish within a few hours. I dont t hink they even use live rock or if they do they dont show that part

I'd love to see a Tanked-4 weeks after episode.

I try to convince myself that if these people have enough cash to pay for the install they get serviced by lfs.

Yeah, monthly updates would be interesting. However like you said with the money they can put down on having these tanks built/installed, I doubt the owners have to even put their hand in the tank.

I have wondered if most of the stuff is just staged and contrived to make it interesting television. Like when they used the hot water since that is all that was available in time and used ice to cool it down. I have been told hot water typically has dissolved heavy metals that make it unsuitable for drinking. I don't think these guys would have a business if they really operated this way as most of the tanks would likely be stinking pools of dead fish within a few days. It seems like they probably know what to do and what not to do (well, for the most part anyway), but since the vast majority of the people watching know nothing about fish tanks they can get away with contriving drama in a business where there should be very little drama.
