All reality shows seem to give a false sense of knowledge...from making moonshine to rescuing pitbulls. I agree and wish they would at least put in a disclaimer but.....they don't.

The one thing I am not sure on is the filtration. They have some pretty substantial sumps they put in the stands. Also as stated they require purchasers to sign a 4 year service contract. If this service occurs weakly or bi-weekly with large WC and thorough cleaning of the filtration it probably isn't as bad as it appears.

Thats why I have 5 lfs and only go to 2 of them. It is true that lotts of people overstock but its ok, to a certain degree. Look at the reefs look at how meany fish are there, but look how big the ocean is. honistly fish shold not be kept in tanks smaller than a 125g all fish need swiming room but then 70% of hobyists wouldnt have started a tank.

Its just a picture. That tank could be over a thousand gallons for all we know.

Just looking at the depth of tbe foreground tangs and the backgrounds tangs I'm guessing it's a pretty massive tank.

You guys are all assuming that the photo of all the fish is actually as many fish as it looks. What if it was a time lapse photo with only 3 fish in the tank and the fish were just in different spots each time the shutter clicked?

The photo is real.... I took it. No illusions. It was as packed as it seems in the photo.

I think I've seen this debate like at least 5 or 6 times here in 3 reef...

Honestly, I like the show. As many people have stated, if they were not good at what they do, and things did not work out long term for them with their products, people would stop doing business with them. The fact that they are making so much money and building all these tanks is because they are obviously doing something right. I do hate that they won't show ( or do a caption for it) a little bit more of husbandry and what it takes to build a tank.

I think that maybe they do wait before adding the fish, but we obviously don't get the chance to see it. Maybe it's like when you transfer your tank to another home, It's basically established already but all you are doing is transferring your stuff over so you don't need to wait too long to add your stock back. SOOOO many things we don't get to see that might go into this. I wouldn't be so quick to jump into conclusions.

Don't like the show? dont watch it :) simple as that.

To comment on that picture of the clowns and Hippos, the Ripleys BION Aquarium in Gatlinburg TN has a similar 6x6x4 tank with that exact same stock amount. Theirs has a center section you can pop your head up into and see inside the tank. They are a very renound aquarium and to be in Tennessee says a lot. They are about neck and neck with Florida on animal rights laws.

Sorry to change focus, but as the show goes, I just stopped watching. I loved the tanks they put together, and the office crew :sweethear, but the corny antics and loss of reality seemed to bore me. At first it was really cool, but like all shows, the producers seem to "create" the second season and on. They had a good start, but thats why NatGeo backed FishTankKings, to give variety.
