Hey fellow reefers, I have a question on these lights. I have read several reviews on these LEDs and have heard nothing but praise. My current T5 lights are crappin out on me and i'm looking to Switch to the taotronics. My question is whether or not one fixture would be enough to light up a standard 55 gallon reef tank (no SPS)? Thanks in advance!!

The ones in this link are essentially the same as I'm now running over my 125g- soon to be transferred to over my 180g.

By far the most par/$, and get great coral growth too.
Oh, but I don't get any thunderstroms, or gentle sunsets, of well,
my fish and coral said they were cool without that.

You will probably need two. Not that bad of an expense though.

Don't think the thunderstorms are that necessary...haha, how did you hang your lights? I have cathedral ceilings and dont think it would look that great hanging from the ceiling, so I'm thinking of doing a wall bracket. What kind of hanging kit comes with those lights?

Generally just the cables. You can get some hanging kits that look pretty nice, they just bolt to the back of your stand. Personally, I appropriated a flower hanger and secured it to my stand with a combination it wood blocks, zip ties, and metal clamps lol. It's worked great so far!

the problem with securing anything to the back of the stand is not being able to move/get behind the stand with a screw gun or any other tool to fasten the brackets...anyone have any links to some aesthetically pleasing brackets?

Hatin on the Radions, Todd? Lol

The Reefbreeder style lights are an excellent value, and an excellent light.

When I was looking into buying lights for the tank I was putting up about 14 months ago. I was looking into purchasing Taotronics Reef lights but I was trying to figure out how place them over my tank without hanging them. The problem was our tank is a corner BF so it was going to be hard to place brackets on the wall since its in the corner.

I found a Rubbermaid rack/shelf at Home Depot which was white but I would spray paint black that was the dimension of light fixture. I can place the lights on top of the tank but it was going to put the lights about 4" above the glass top and wasn't sure if that would've been high enough?

In general how far up about the tank would the fixture have to be??
