    If I have the non dimmable version, how far off should I hang it if my tanks 17.5 inches deep?

    I would say at least 10" off the water but you may find you will need it even higher on that tank.

    i have 2 units on my 100g about a foot off the water and tank is 18" deep. Seems to be working out well so far. mine are non dimmable also.

    Ill probably go a foot off too since our tanks are almost the same height

    The types of corals/inverts you choose will be the biggest factor.

    I wanted to do mostly lps and some sps maybe softies.
    But that will be later on after my tank is cycled.
    By the way its a 24 gallon aquapod modded with the back chamber removed

    Yikes......I have one of these on my 90 and it melts mushrooms on the SB.:cry: Too much light IMO.

    My led hood if you look at the link I posted is like 4 inches off the top of tank.. I have richodia and some Shrooms at the top along with a clam and Various Sps. I never had a bleaching nor Melting problem. Also have the non dimmable led also.

    What kind of light are you upgrading from? The stock PC's or MH?

    I was burning a 150watt HQI bulb on mine before I made the switch. Pending you current lights you could get away with the led's closer to the tank. And in all cases with new Light syndrome shorten light cycles to aclimate tank to new lighting system. Then in time make you light cycles longer..
