I would never use tap water. Only RO/DI.

I've used tap water for most of my 16 years in the hobby.
I'm fortunate to live where a great treatment plant delivers pretty good water to me from the Great Lakes.

i use ro/di... now. For the first 12 months I used tap. Never had a single problem and I see no improvement with my ro/di to be honest.

always been 0 nitrates and phosphates.

I did, however, test my tap for nitrates and phosphates about every other month. It was, fortunately, pretty consistently low.

I am of the opinion it is quite possible to run a successful home reef system; provided the tap happens to be good quality.

How about if everybody post their tap water TDS readings too?

Mine is typically > 250ppm. Therefore, it's all RO/DI for me.

Sure you can use tap water..... Cheaper.... But not good practice.... Sort of like pouring gasoline on a fire thats lit. Do it with caution cause it can be deadly (to your reef inhabitants) :-/
