I try to be nice! Its just water has been my career for 35 years now and its so easy and inexpensive to do things right. We strive for the best lighting, best rock and sand, best flow, best lighting, pH and temperature, best salt mix etc....Why not the best water? We are putting corals and fish in an artificial environment so lets provide the best we can. I use only Spectrapure products myself after starting out with others like Watts Premier, AWI, Aquatic Reef Systems and PuelyH2o and I wouldn't change a thing. At $149 for the Pro Plus you can't afford not to have an RO/DI. Thats the price of a single SPS colony.

I think that's because RODI is the norm. Everybody who uses tap is going to click on this thread. Probably a lower percentage of RODI users click on it, as they already do it. There is no decision to be made there.

He posted pics of what I believe to be his tank(s) a few pages back

Oh, and ro/di for me from day one. I spend too much money on my systems to risk them by using tap water.

Yep, the 20th post in this thread has pics of my tanks.
    Here are a few more.

The last pic was my previous dual membrane MaxCap system which produced 240 GPD at 99.23% rejection with RO only. The prefilter is a 0.2 absolute micron ZetaZorb, carbon is a 0.5 micron 20,000 gallon Chlorine Guzzler, membranes were 90 GPD and 150 GPD Select hand tested, and the DI's are MaxCap and SilicaBuster. It sent RO only into a 14G pressure tank for drinking, icemaker, cooking etc and the green line feeds the DI system back from the pressurized RO. My tap water TDS averages 830, the RO was between 5.3 and 6.2 and of course the DI was 0 for about 900 gallons per MaxCap cartridge. The system had over 2500 documented gallons through the DI portion and the original SilicaBuster cartridge was still in it and showing 0 TDS when I upgraded to a MaxCap UHE ultra low waste 1:1 system and sold this system to a fellow reefer.
    Great system

Using tap water, you are asking for issues, its not if, but when.
