You're kidding me. If I keep the unit itself clean and replace the 3 main cartridges and leave the membrane alone it'll last 3-10 years!? Ive been buying this replacement kit every 6 months and just swapping the entire darn thing

I can save a buck on the next purchase then. Ill just get the 3 pack replacement.

 

Replace the prefilter and carbon block at 6 month intervals and monitor th RO membrane and DI TDS readings to tell you when one or the other needs replacing. The better the prefilter and carbon quality, the longer both will last. Randy Holmes Farley recently reported 10 years of heavy use out of a single Spectrapure RO membrane over on Reef Central, mostly due to quality and timely replacements.

Always go with 1 micron or less prefilters and carbons, the smaller the better and absolute rated over nominal rated if possible. The less stuff that reaches th RO membrane, the longer it and the DI last.
