Since I've had my coralife skimmer I have been using RO water for top offs/water changes. Today I decided to try conditioned tap water. As soon as I poured in 1 gallon, my skimmer immediately started filling up. Never happens with RO water. Are you just not suppose to use tap with skimmers?
Any one have any comments/advice on this?

    Thanks,

sounds like there is something in your tap water that sets the skimmer off, i would take it as a sign that the tap water in your area isnt suitable for your tank

Many of the water conditioners which you would add to the aquarium will trigger the skimmer to produce a very wet foam, as well, there may be additional organics in your tap water for the skimmer to work with.

+1 on the above, the skimmer will go nuts with most conditioners
Give it a little bit it may settle down, if not may have to switch back to RO

So do you let your tap sit for chlorine to evaporate instead of conditioners? how long would be sufficient?

I won't use tap, too great a potential for issues, and too great of an investment to put at risk...over the years I've ended up with 2 RO/DI systems...

    tapwater in general is unpredictable
there may be some geographical locations where the quality is perfectly acceptable most of the time but even then its a gamble IMHO

RODI - consistent provided you maintain the filters etc
