I agree. A hurricane was just an example of something I have to deal with. Nobody is immune to natural or man made catastrophe's, accidents, or contamination's.

Except for those of us with an RO/DI ;):p;D

Living near Chicago I always assumed our drinking water was OK. But when I first set up my reef I had nothing but problems with nuisance algae. After talking with other reefers and the guys at the LPS they all recommended the same thing "get an RO unit" I was sold now the only thing left was to sell my wife on the idea. I used the birth of my daughter as an excuse to help sell my wife on a RO unit. First I purchased a hand held TDS tester to help prove my point. We tested the water twice a day for a week. The result were all over the place as high as 360 and low as 130. Results would vary from day to day and even test taken in the morning would be different than the ones taken in the evening. After a couple of days of testing my wife said "My baby isn't drinking that s!%#t get one of those filters hooked up by the end of the week" And that's how I got my RO unit. For me it was a must have because of the problems I had but your situation might be different. I would suggest start by testing your water and make your decision based on your results.
