as far as pain goes I can dealwith a good bit but have never had a tattoo so dont know what to expect. as far as the machine it would depend in how good the artist is if he is really good then it his choice I can deal with pain as long as it looks good. some day I wish I was close enough to go to cali but alas I am on the other side if the country lol

now as background goes would it be better to have a blander background to draw attention to the fish?

Derp. I dont know why I registered your location as California. lol That could be done yes, probably with a light gradient of shading. A bit of negative space between the fish and shading would be a nice touch as well. By the way, Im not actually a tattoo artist. lol One of my best friends is and I spend alot of time in the shop. I have around 100 hours of work done spread out on my body.

that practly makes you an expert ;D 100+ hours wow

so had to look up what you ment by negetive space but the concept seems fairly stright forward. its using a lighter color as a background to make the pic pop?

so maby, a light blue background or even leaving it bear skin?

The ribs suck. Forearm is virtually no pain. Upper back was pretty painless. Collar bone was easy. And upper arm/chest/sholder/back wasn't that bad. Any where that there is bone vlose to skin surface will hurt a lot! Cool idea tho.
