Good score Tbelt, but I am more impressed with the shop. Man I wish I had one like that. Looking forward to following the build.

Well here I am in a hotel with little to do. This stinks. There is so much more I could be doing to set up the tank. Oh well only 3 more days till I get back in. Doing some checking online for overflow set ups. The one I have in my 55 has a "float" that goes up and down in the inlet pipe but it does not appear they make those anymore. I know the are a little noisey but I feel better knowing the flow is controlled. Does anybody have any ideas? The mego flow has a neat looking set up but I am not sure if I will like it. I turn my pumps off at feeding time (helps the Mandarin get food) And it looks like I would have to bleed the system everytime I do this. Decisions decisions. If anyone has any ideas I am all ears.

    Come on Thursday!!!!!

Thursday is finally here and my road trip is over. Just 2 appointments away from heading home (only and hour and a half from where I am now). While on the road I picked up some of the piping and ball valves I will need for the plumbing. This weekend should be filled with sanding, sanding, sanding to prepare the tank for its new look.

I am also looking into overflow styles and kits. does anybody have any experience with the Mega flow overflows? I understand they make alot less noise then the one I have on my 55(float type lots of gurgles). I am looking for something that will not take alot of work everytime I shut off the return pump as I turn it off during feeding time at least once a day.

Well off to the appointments. The sooner they are over the sooner I get home. i will make sure to keep the pics coming this weekend as move along.

    Make it a great day,

    Tony

Beautiful work - i have no doubt your tank project will look no less spectacular.

Are those panels in the base cabinet doors stained glass?
    I absolutely love the detail.

Thanks. They were my first set. Took me about 6 months to do. Since then I have done some real nice set ups for freinds.

The glass panels in the base are actually a film that you put over the glass to give a stained glass look. I picked the film up at home depot and applied them over the glass in the base doors. i have lights in the bases so at night they look very nice.

    Thanks again

Well got to work on the new set up today. Sanded down the canopy to prepare for a new paint job. Going with a textured look. Replace all the trim inside the canopy where it sits on the tank. The old trim was water damaged and very soft. I used 3/4 by 3/4 poplar pieces to give a little extra strength over pine. I also coated the iside of the canopy and painted it white.

Tomorrow I will start on the base to prepare it for the new textured coating I will use. So far this setup has a bad case of turnsda. Every piece of wood I touch Turnsda crap. Below are some pics of my progress today. Still much to do but I hope to have the canopy done tomorrow as far as paint and texture go. I also picked up new hardware today (hinges and knobs) for all the doors.

Thanks for looking and more pics to come tomorrow,

    Tony

Here is the progress on the outside area of the canopy. Mostly just sanded wood. So much to do.

    Thanks again for looking.

Talk about a deal! Where do you live in Tampa? I'm in Temple Terrace if you ever want a hand.
