Hey all just got a TDS meter to measure my RO output with my brand new RO so far it is 001ppm...I decided to test my DT and it was 650 with a x10 in the corner so I multiplied it by 10...does that mean I should move the decimal on the 6,500 to 65? I'm confused by this whole TDS thing...my tap water measured at 125ppm

No, it means you shouldn't put it in the DT, lol. :p

It's testing total dissolved solids, there's A LOT of those in the DT.

yes, your DT has saltwater in it, so it will have a high TDS because of the salt mixture along with dissolved organics...

125ppm to 1 ppm is not bad... you may want to consider running a DI on the output of your RO to bring that 1ppm down to zero...

You cannot test saltwater, it is way way beyond the range of the TDS meter at somewhere around 30,000+ ppm. Rinse your meter off real well with DI water so the accumulated salt does not ruin the probes.
Most TDS meters will read between 0 and 999 TDS and some have a high range where they will read up to 9,990 by tens, still too low for NSW.
