maybe i should have bought a tds meter before i bought the ro/di unit. oh well hind sight is 20/20 right?
ive used tap water for emergency top off's before but tried to limit the use as i never knew what the tds was. my only concern about using the tap water straight is.....what is the 15 tds? as in chlorine, copper, silicates???
i dont regret buying the ro/di....why have 15 when u can have 0 tds?

If you bought the ProPlus with the inline TDS meter you are looking at the post RO TDS on the in side and post DI or final treated TDS on the out side. You do not have a reading for the tap water as it only has two dedicated probes.

If you are getting 15 post RO I would guess your tap water TDS to be in excess of 500, that would be 97% rejection. It could even be higher.

No problem, we all have lapses of memory at times!
Thats one drawback of the inlines, they are dedicated probes. One nice feature of the MaxCap is it has two dual inlines so you get pre RO, post RO, post MaxCap DI and final efluent or post SilicaBuster DI. For troubleshooting a system I recommend getting a handheld like the HM TDS-3 or COM-100 so you can monitor all points including your tap, treated and even your top off storage container.

oh well.....since people are helping i might as well ask another question! :)
my waste to product ratio is 2.4:1....
just to make sure im doing the math right:
i collected 600ml waste water in 1 min
and collected 250ml product water in 1 min
    600:250 = 2.4:1
    right??

Yep. If you have flushed the system for 3-5 gallons then the membrane should be well soaked. If thats the case then trim the restrictor using a sharp razor blade to 2" and re test the waste ratio. You should be real close to 4:1.

    i realize i didnt ask my question!......its late, been a long day....watching burn notice....:D
the booklet states my ratio should be 4-6:1 minimum to preserve the ro membrane...
anyone had exp with this? ideas? the booklet provided states i need to cut my 'flow restrictor' on the unit....
