    Absolutely reef safe. Many other types of pipe dope I can't say that they are anywhere close to reef safe.

    Tape is OK but I much prefer the stick type PVC pipe lubricants like this one:
    LA-CO: Product Detail - PLASTO-JOINT STIK® - Plastic Thread Sealant

    It stays pliable forever and does not tear or try to roll out when screwed together like tapes do. I have used it for years, actualy my swiming pool contractor gave me a stick in 1985 when my pool was constructed and I have used it ever since. Its all the pool contractor uses on PVC, big or small.

    remember that teflon tape is not a thread sealant its a thread lubricant. check into a food grade loctight
