Does anyone have a tek II 60" retro kit? i was wondering what the actual installed light measures in length, from endcap base to endcap base.

It's 60" I just looked in my dealers catalog for the true measurements end to end 60" Part # 960093

The down side is at 60" the only bulbs are made by Giesemann and that would be a reason I'd rather have run a 24 and 36" set up then you can get UVL lamps . UVL at this time has yet to make a tube longer then a 46.5 " lamps.

i just got back from the lfs and they let me put it together in the store it ended up being 58 1/2" i have 58" on the inside of my canopyso it wont go anyway lol, but thats a good point about the bulbs that i didnt think of im running Giesemann now but i want to change to UVL. im adding 2 more bulbs to my setup. i guess i'll just go with the 48"s so i can get the ULVs and just stager them? or would it be better just to center them all, my tank is 60" long

How many lamps will you be running totaly ? if its 4 or less ? I would just center them up if 6 or 8 then I'd staher them with the UVL's run 1/2 and 1/2 mix of the actinic white and the super actinc blue it makes for a great combo of light .

Hope you dont mind me jumping in on your thread Icod but I have a simalur question . I'm in the process of upgrading to a 90G from my 55 and I'm planing on making a canopy . The tank is 48" long when I order a retro kit should I order a 36" kit or what ? My 55 is 48" and when I ordered bulbs for the first time I didn't pay atention and ended up with 48" bulbs I had to pay to send them back and reorder I believe they were 46" bulbs to fit . And in a 90G how many T-5s do you guys recomend . I have 4 110W VHO's on my 55 that my corals seem to like . I know the 90 is 4" deeper and 6" wider . Thanks for the help and hope you dont mind me butting in .

the bulbs for t5s arent like vho bulbs, a 48" t5 bulb is only 46.5" long. the 48" tek retro is actually 47"x2.75" installed. i have 4 on my 110gal now and im adding 2 more, its going to be tight, im just going to have to "make" the 6th one fit lol. if the tank was not as deep you could probably get away with 4, but my tanks 2' deep im guessing you 90 is too, so id try to get atleast 6 if they'll fit, it all depends on how your canopy is built if i had used 1x4s on mine insted of 2x4s i wouldnt have a problem with six.
i hope this kinda helps ;D

Thanks for that info on the 48" T5s mesurement that makes it easier to order my set up now to decide how many bulbs . The new tank is 48X18X24 so it is 4 inches deeper than the tank I'm replacing . I havent made the stand or canopy yet so I think I should be able to squeeze in 6 bulbs if nesessary . I think i read some where that T5's with good reflectors put out more usable light for the tank then the 4 110 VHO's with built in reflectors in the bulbs .
