The new Ultra Elite 48" 4 lamp/LED Tek Light from Sunlight Supply Inc. is said to be the only true VHO T5 lamp on the market. Aqualux made bulbs with this fixture in mind that run at 95 watts each - 41 watts higher than current T5 HO bulbs. Beyond the intense light output, this is a nice aluminum fixture with a dimmer for the LEDs plus independent toggle switches and plugs for timers. No MSRPs at this time but we should see the 48" version soon with other sizes to follow. Several pics below.

Holy wattage Batman! Thanks for the heads up on these Matt, I think that's pretty awesome to consolidate that much wattage into a 4-bulb system. It would be perfect paired with a 75g or 90g, great I can only imagine how much I will be spending when these come out & I'm also wondering how much each bulb will be!

Now, with near double the wattage, are you looking at a "really long" metal halide in terms of heat dispensing? Just curious how much hotter that would run.

oops I totally forgot about the heat, would need a chiller I would think. I also wonder how much heat these puppies would put out.

NICE! I wanted the older TEK Elite version when I got my lights but they didn't make a 4 bulb 36" fixture. Only 6 bulb 36". I hope they make a 4 bulb 36" this time around on the new Elite fixtures! :)

Wow, the first VHO fixture, and it's higher wattage then the VHO rating for the UVL bulbs. Is that a typo, or is VHO not quite a standard wattage...?

It would appear to be no standard.

I would think even with active cooling that these will run hotter than HO T5. HO run at about 140 degrees. I wouldn't be surprised if someone measured these at 200+.

The bulbs would probably run higher than Geisemann prices since there is only one manufacturer of a bulb that can run at 95 watts.

what's everyone think these will cost? I'm thinking maybe $800-$1000 range for a 48" 4-bulb.

Cooling shouldn't be a concern at all ...

The Teklight Ultra Elite was originally designed to run cooler, under full-load conditions, than any other similar product on the market - or readily available for matter. The forced-air cooling system was situated such that cooler ambient air is pulled in from the top and directed (via engineered internal ducts and plenums) over the surface(s) of the T5's with a subsequent exhaust on the rear/top surface (away from the tank).

At the time of the original design, the full-load temperature on the surfaces of the T5's was over 30 degrees (F) less than the nearest competitor.

Unless "they" (ie: Sunlight Supply) have messed with the design, which would not have been a good idea based on their lack of in-house abilities at the time, this system will provide the best performance that you can put over your tanks.

Being the Design Engineer that was responsible for the original concept and final design of the Teklight Ultra Elite (up to and including the 8-lamp version), I feel completely comfortable and confident in my above statements.
