sounds and looks like an excellent product to me
it seems to have 3 sockets/ power inputs , so I assume that the T5s are paired and that the extra one is for the LEDS thus you can run this from 3 timers

What happened to "VHO are old & out-dated. Better things have come" ? VHO have great light output, but I have heard, constantly, people complaining of how bad they are & their very high heat output.

How's this one serve compared to T5HO on heat? How long do bulbs last? Bulb price?

 

It's because before now, the majority of people are talking about T12 VHO, not T5. The only VHO T5 ballast I know of is the IceCap ballast, and there's no full T5 VHO fixtures before this one AFAIK.

 

So now it's T5VHO? As apposed to T12 VHO & T5HO.

 

Yup. This fixture is T5 VHO, not the older T12 VHO.

 

That is one sweet fixture. I would love to see the pricing on the bulbs. This should be able to replace halides completely on most applications.

Does anyone know of any place that has info on the bulbs yet? I want some par results in a deep tank.

 

I'm curious how long it will be before all the big boys in T5 tubes will start putting out bulbs for this. This seems like it could be the new market standard for T5 fixtures.

As far as the heat goes, the original Tek Elite has a similar looking build and I would assume a similar cooling system. It runs amazingly cool, and the fans are the quietest I've heard.

I'm looking forward to giving T5s another shot over my SPS...

 

Looks very nice, but I'm afraid it's going to be out of my budged.
