TEK or MH/T5?

Yes the glimmer of a halide is very nice.I had to look at a small house,main floor,with no central air when it gets 100+ outside in the summer.Tried T5's 3 years ago,no regrets,not looking back.This is what tek grows....









Just got a calcium reactor,there's sucking my water clean of cal. alk have had the tank up for 1 year,last month.Do nothing but a 10% water change twice a mth.with I.O.

 

papareef, you people make me sick. LOL jealously !! Nice tank. Sorry, but I cant give info on which is better. I have t-5 on one of my new tanks, and pc on my other. Wish I would of seen this site years ago. Good luck.

 

I really do have to thank everyone for your thoughts and considerations. But after much debate with my dad and girlfriend(i don't know why either ) I am not quite sure I can even hang a MH and canopy styled thingy on the ceiling anyways... I am about 75% sure on the TEK fixture, unless someone really changes my mind. After seeing Poseidan's and papareef's tank pictures it just about changed my mind .

Papareef, what type of bulbs are you using?

 

Anyone using the Fiji Purple, any pics? What are your thoughts on that bulb? Don't need it for the PAR as we all know it is very low, would like to use it for color probably.

 

I dont understand why you cant hang a light unless you have a drop ceiling or live in a tent.

 

C'mon now Matty, you've seen growth pics from a MH/T5 fixture belonging to someone who has no idea what they are doing with SPS's

So the girlfriend is not a fan of MH huh?

lol I meant that I would have to hang two separate units, the MH and the canopy to house the T5's. Which is awkward enough to do, but it might look even worse (my dad actually pointed that one out and the g/f was all over it saying how bad it would look, thanks again dad)

 

I think his family members are worried about the appearance of it

 

lmao!! ya, some one to tag along for the rest of my life to make the decisions for me . Oh well, the TEK's are a great fixture no doubt, but it would have been nice to get a MH/T5 comb, maybe with the next tank

 

I was using an equal mix of ATI aqua blue specials and blue plus.just changed them.Great color,not to blue, just right and the acros grow like weeds.There is no more suppliers of ati bulbs in canada Had to go another route,using a mix of aquascience 15,000 and 22,000.Like the bluer color of ati's but i had no choice but to change brands.
