tek system question

    Man thats a lot of bulbs, I got only 4 bulbs and it puts out plenty of light, Im pretty sure you can keep clams with that setup.

    What kinda corals are u keeping in your 90 ibmgeek?

    Right now I only have lps,and soft corals. I also have 1 sps.

    I use to have sps which were doing good but died I think because of nitrates.

    Wow, so i mite even be able to get away with a 6 bulb configuration and save some money huh?

    Yeah you could probably get away with 6 bulbs. There pretty bright, and that tek fixture is good.

    On your tek fixture, do u run it over open water? I c there is a protective guard u can buy for the endcaps or something....did u bother? My lfs said to get some piece of plexi glass cut on the ends to protect them and leave the bulbs open so i dont block any light.....whats your opinion?

    I have the 6 bulb setup and I've already had to replace my end caps once

    u dont think getting the plexi glass end pieces cut would work?

    That tek fixture should come with waterproof endcaps. I dont bother putting the plexiglass on it since it blocks some of the light. Wipe the reflectors 1 once a month and you should be fine. If your willing to sacrifice a little bit of light then get the plexi shield.

    I keep mine about 3-4" from top of tank.
