tell me how this idea sounds

i use an aqua c remora skimmer with the bubble trap box. It does nothing to stop the bubbles from my skimmer. i want to take the sponge out of the return compartment on the box and fill it with some seachem matrix material. the hope is that the matrix stops the microbubbles....and i will get the added benefit of some additional bio-filtration from the matrix. should i give this a try? i do not want to deal with filter floss etc that will get dirty and cause problems.

 

That should work great. The Matrix would remove impurities that the skimmer missed, and you'd get a lot better flow-through with it there than in a mesh bag hanging in the sump.

 

Do you have this skimmer installed in-sump? If so, don't you have a bubble trap to stop bubbles from reaching the return pump chamber? Just curious.
