hmmm good point didnt think of the reduced water volume after the rocks, the reason for the puffer is that for the moment he is small but when he grows and that beak of his with it i fear he might nab at my soft corals and what not (to make this clear i currently have a 48 gallon reef tank that i am soon moving to a 118 gallon tank, so the idea is to keep this 48 as a lion fish tank with only live rocks and perhaps some macro algae for nutrient export, so the puffer and his appeal to my corals and snails will have to stay with the lion....if possible). the web seems to tell me they are compatible though where would the problem of having these 2 fish together come from, swimming space?

Looking at the Puffers charateristics, you can pretty much sum up thier natual behaviours. They are wraspers/pickers and unless they grind them down, will become overgrown and the puffere csan die. Those teeth are meant to crack shell.

I'm sure there are some success stories out there. My motto in life is "for everything you say can't be done, someone is out there doing it. It's not a sure fire failure, but the odds aren't on your side. It's up to the individual how much a risk they feel comfortable with.

Does that make sense at all.
