It's been just awful as far as heat and humidity goes here in Buffalo. On top of that, I have an upstairs apartment.

When I got home my tank was/is 86 degrees. Nothing looks too out of the ordinary, my frogspawn is just not as open as usual. However I know that is entirely too warm. So I have:
    1. Shortened my light cycle.
    2. Pointed a desk fan at the tank. The fan is on high and I can feel air across the light fixture with my hands.
    3. Put I've trays and frozen bottles of water in the sump...

....but when I'm gone, it still get hot. I'm worried something is going to die and although I have no fish, I don't want to start adding b/c its prolly gonna happen again in August.

WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?!? I just don't want to lose everything again

    use AC

Its the only thing that keeps my tank cool in 95 degree weather

edit: to clarify I have a window unit devoted to the room with the tank in it, its better to use the window unit then the central ac

does you home stay cooler at night than it does in the day?
in addition to what you are doing you could consider

raising your light unit slightly so that more air from the fan can blow across water surface to cool it

adding a secondary fan and doing similar across the top of sump

consider running your lights late evening to after dark, rather than during day time

i feel you...this heat is killer. during the day i turn off all non essential pumps, including skimmer. also instead of cutting the lighting cycle, i cut the daylights out completely, just leaving the Blue+. opening the doors to your sump(if u have one) will help a lot. evaporation is the ultimte cheap water cooler, just maintain top-offs!

    103* F outside here today.

You are already doing all of the short-term things I would have recommended. The only thing I can tell you that will actually keep a steady temperature for your water would be to turn the AC on if it isn't already. If you need more than that, I would say to invest into a chiller. They run a couple hundred bucks depending on the size.

Worst part: my apartment is only slightly cooler. I couldn't sleep the other night and at 3a.m. it was still 82 degrees. Also won't running the blues all day effect the the corals? As is that's not enough light for them throughout the course of the day?

Also turn your heater off if it isn't already...

Well, I've read that the waters out on the reef can get up into the 90's so just keep an eye on things.

Yeah no AC unit and if I had one it'd be in my bedroom haha. All the chillers I've seen are like four or five hundo. I know it sounds terrible but we get this stuff maybe three total weeks a year so I feel a chiller is just a waste
