I have had my heater unplugged all week and my tank will not go lower than 82 degrees and a high of 92. What can I do to lower the temperature? I like my temp at around 78 degrees and cant figure it out.
    Thanks

I live in florida and needless to say it can get pretty hot. I just run a small fan over the top of the water during the day to offset the heat. I had an oscillating fan sitting on one of my dinning room chairs to begin with, then bought a small table fan and mounted it to the wall behind my open-back canopy. it works very well and is much cheaper than a chiller.

Small clip on fan. Frozen 2 liter bottles. Open lid if you have one. Turn off lights if need be.

Bloodkip: I have an 90 gallon acrylic tank and it has two precut openings. The tank unfortunately does receive some light from a window if that is what your asking?

    Clarky: Thanks!

Seano: Do just put the bottles in my sump? I have never heard of that idea before thanks!

Just freeze water in the bottles, in the freezer, but be sure to leave a bit of rom in the top of the bottle for air, to not crack the bottle. I use 20 oz bottles to lower the tamp about 1degree an hour in my 29g.

    Darn acrylics insulating abilities!;D

Have a fan blow over the top of your tank, it will increase evap but will lower the temp.

How warm is the room? Without a chiller you will never get the tank below the room temperature. If its' warmer than 78-79 in the room, you should expect no less than 82 degrees. I keep my house at 76-77 and my tank stays right at 79 during the summer.

I got a used chiller from my local fish store. Being in FL. that is necessary. Peace of mind counts.
