My tank runs around 77 to 80 in the winter and 80 to 82 in the summer. Right now, I am in the green. But before next summer, I am going to drill some holes in the side of my canopy and have some fans blasting the heat out of the canopy. I will have two fans on the back of the tank blowing across the water. I have gotton to 84 before, but the corals start to look stressed.

Is the tank near any windows that may be letting the sun shine on the tank all day? That could cause the temp of the tank to rise. If thats the case maybe some blinds or a means of blocking the sun may help?

I designed my canopy with cooling fans. But buy a small chiller if you have to. Look for a used one locally.

I keep my tank at 76 F. I will probably end up getting a chiller in the summer.

If you have a canopy you can try to redesign it.

This is a picture of mine before i installed the lighting and the fans. The air is pulled from the sides and blown out of the top center. I also have two fans for the sump

I have two 250W 14000K Ushio MH and 4 x T5's so the temp fluctuates more than 2F if i don't use fans.

The two square holes in the middle with have the Metal Halides but they will be sticking out of the top of the canopy so majority of the heat will escape from the top.

i found out that my seio 2600gph pumps are the heat makers of this situation. i guess i will have to buy diff power heads. im going to try and get two more fans and see if that works but if not then i have to get new powerheads.

glad you found the heat source, external pumps dont transmit alot of heat back the the water, you live near by, maybe we can hook up, i have alot of extras
