Just wondered if there was an acceptable range of temp change between day/night. My tank runs from 77* first thing in the morning to 80/81* when I get home from work.

Thats an acceptable day/night swing, altho I prefer that my tanks run at 77*F max, as at 80*F+, there's no room for any unexpected temp spikes.

Your fish will live longer at cooler temps too...

So you run at 77* on high side, how low does the tank run? Temp controlled by a chiller?

We have some tanks that are controlled with a chiller that pretty much never budge more than a degree or two. We also have setups that run at room ambient or whatever their intrinsic temp is due to equipment. That being said, our house is air conditioned, so on the days we run the AC, the chillers have little to do.

We also keep a few temperate setups that run in the low 60's (chilled, of course).
