OK so my temp in the display has settled at 77.5 during the overnight and 78.5 during the day with the lights on.

Is this a good range ? Is the 1 degree change concidered normal and safe ?

    Thanks

You will be fine at those temps and temp variation. I would say anything under 2 degrees of variation during a 24 hour period is acceptable. However, I would try to minimize that variation as much as possible.

I also prefer to run a little higher temp (around 79-80), but your temps are fine.

That is good as I keep mine at 0.8 degrees change. But you need to keep in mind what will happen if the houses inside temp changes??? Always factor that in and keep equipment to compensate for the change, heaters, chillers etc.
