Yesterday I came home from work and my tank was 92 Degrees F. I immediately unplugged the heater and hoped for the best. I ended up loosing my Dottyback and a cleaner shrimp, everything else seems fine. How do you guys regulate temperature on hot days like this? I know my heaters not top end but it shouldnt have gotten that hot. Ideas?

The temp in itself is not always the issue
the higher the water temp - the lower the levels of oxygen it carries
so its often the lack of oxygen that kills the livestock rather than the heat

additional water movement, especcially at the water surface can help
as can fans mounted directed across the water surface = cooling via increased evaporation

a good quality heater - Titanium type should help to avoid problems of sticking thermostat
if thats not an option, 2 smaller heaters are better than 1 large one IME as the odds on both failing at same time are ( NASAgeek needs to help me compute these odds) very high
