I live in Akron Ohio and our weather isnt exactly consistant by any means. For example, tomorrow's high is 65, low is 35. Thats 30 degree change day to night. What steps do you do to help temperature swings in such extreme change? In the height of summer and winter, my house stays really consistant. It's this change of winter to summer and summer to winter that I struggle with.

I grew up in Cleveland I don't miss it.

Most people have heaters in the sumps for winter and a chiller in the summer with some type of controller attached to a temperature probe. Some just use fans in place of a chiller to upset the cost of a chiller. With the fans you get a bit more evaporation. But with a chiller the electric bill goes up. I now live in Florida the heaters are not as necessary since it doesn't get cold in the house to reduce the temp lower than 75 and I ave a chiller attached to the tank.

Figure out where you can add fans. I know you tank is larger than mine wife 30 but hers was jumping from 78 night to 82 over last couple months and I added 1 small fan and was amazed that it stays 77 to 78 now.

Evaporation is the key and thank god for the ATO

I have seen my tank swing from 78 at night to 82 durning the day (same as above). I have a ceiling fan in the room running 24/7 and plan to put an exhaust fan in my window. I was wondering to about thermostats. Can you get one that switches from heat in the house to air conditioning keeping a constant temp in the house? If my house could stay consistant day and night, then my tank temp wont be far behind.

My house is constant temp 76 with AC and that was not helping.. Ceiling fan may help slightly but overall not.

You literally need fans pointing top of water to help with evaporation and cooling. Get some fans on you sump and see how much that helps and if need be you may need fans for DT also.

Sounds good. Maybe a couple of ten dollar clamp ons from the dollar store clamped to the sump may do it. Currently I have to keep the door open durning the day to help that heat escape. I would like to keep it closed all the time. I think with the ceiling fan, the clamp on fans and the exhaust fan in the window will do the trick.

Does your home where the DT is stay pretty constant?
They do make thermstats that will put on a/c of heat if you wanted it to.

YOu have some great advice here- it will work out.
The big question is, are there any bad things happeneing b/c of it?

I know that in tide pools, etc. the temp can swing a lot in the wild.
