You get fish and corals from different parts of the ocean that range in different temperatures so how do you compensate for the changes or do the fish and or corals adjust to the different temps? What is the average temp of your tank?

Most people seem to run a tank in the 78-82 range. I think most things sold in this hobby come from waters that are in that range. With a few exceptions of course.

    80 for me

there are tolerances across the globe and even seasonal variations in same places
most specimens are collected from tropical locations for the home reef tanks and as such they are used to seasonal variations and will have extremes of highs and lows that they can tolerate -so temps between 78 - 82 for example would suite majority of species
but its true to say that some species from cooler climates would struggle in those temps for long periods
