I am not one of the experts on this site - fairly new to the hobby. But I had a similar question a while ago. I was trying to cool down my 90 gallon tank - it was always up at 81 F, and I wanted it around 78 F. I tried using frozen RO/DI water, and I found it a real chore to be constantly adding ice to the tank. So I bought a cheap fan from home depot (cost me about $10) and put in at the top of the tank to blow air along the surface of the water. It cools the tank to about 77 F (and I put it on a timer to be off at night). You may want to think about this route rather than constantly freezing water and adding blocks of ice.

I would start with half of one of those big bags of ice. But may I ask why you want to bring it down. 81 is perfectly fine as long as it's stable.

Is there any reason in particular to cool it down? 81.6 isn't that hot to me. Is it just a temporary heat spike due to summer weather or something? If everything looks ok in the tank I would be tempted to just let it run its natural course.
