I've bought quite a few fish and inverts from PetCo.

Why would it be a no no? If it's for any reason that I can think of, I guess it's a no no to buy from mom and pop stores too.

Just follow the same rules as if you were in your mom and pop LFS; ask to watch the fish eat, inspect for signs of illness etc etc. you'll be alright.

Reefmonkey thank you, second question I currently have 2 small clowns, the one I am looking at is a bit bigger, would there be any issue to keep 3 clowns and would the larger one cause issue to the smaller ones, or would it just immediately establish dominance without issues?

I wouldn't put 3 clowns in the same tank. I think the weakest fish would get bullied to death. No more than a pair for my tanks.

I have bought several fish from Petco with no problems. As a matter of fact, one of the PetCo's up here has the nicest saltwater department around. If you add the clown to your tank, just keep an eye on things. I would assume that the bigger clown will become the female, but there could be some aggression until dominance is figured out.

I have read that ny buying a bigger clown than the other one they will fight less because the bigger one just will just establish itself as dominant because the smaller fish back off faster
