I can only describe this as almost like a single jelly fish tentacle that comes out of the same spot every night when the lights go off. Always in the same spot, this "tentacle" waves around in the current, maybe an inch or more long, fairly transparent, doesn't seem to be hurting anything. Just waving in the current, maybe filter feeding. Then it goes back into the hole in the rock by morning. Gotta try and get a pic but its very thin and nearly very translucent.

I have a few of those little worms, they have a calcareous skeleton and use their fishing line to catch stuff floating around in the water. CANT HURT!!!

I looked at the worms page again, nightmares to follow, but it's not there. Bob, think your right on, and I have at least 3 I can count.

It almost sounds like a digitate hydroid, which are no bueno. Do a search to see if that looks similar.

I was kind of thinking the same, but they usually have many tentacles (we counted 16 on one of mines) and they can be quite long (some up to 8" in my tank!, and they usually stay on the rock work or in the sand, not in the water column.
