They were witnesses to a murder.... The coral beauty probably threatened their families if they talked.

No, if you were wearing shoes, you would not feel it, unless you were somehow grounded. Fish are more sensitive, as their lateral line detects electric fields. I moved a deep sand bed with no problems, a little stir usually will not do much, unless you have a lot of debris in there.

tank is around 6mnths old. both of them were added about 4-5 months ago, at same time. slight aggression every once and a while. nothing major tho. just a chase here and there.

Sorry to hear that it always sucks to have something go wrong for the tank. Esp when you devote so much time and effort to making it right and as perfect as possible and keep it healthy and something goes wrong.

What size tank do you have by the way?

UNPLUG YOUR KORALIAS, if you haven't already. See if that helps, and perform another water change if possible.

My best guess would be a stray voltage thing going on or some unmeasurable toxin in the system. Run some fresh carbon and get a grounding probe. In the mean time while waiting for t he probe unplug the new equipment that you added and dose the tank with some seachem Prime to help bind ammonia or nitrite into a nontoxic form jsut in case thats the cause.

I too have used the API kit for cycling and sicne switched to the Red Sea Pro. To give you an idea of the difference my API kH usually reads at 8-9 while by Red Sea at 11-12. Nitrates on API reads 0 while Red Sea 2.5. My ammonia on API usually reads 0 but it seems every once in a blue moon it spiked to the .25 from a night and then back to 0 by the next morning so I agree the API kits are good for a ballpark figure , and cheap cycling test, but not the best for getting accurate results for a stable established system
