Ok, I have Ammonia and nitrate and nitrites test kits and i recently bought an elos Ca test kit, It works so i guess its ok!! hehe...I also have a pinpoint pH tester.

anyways, I recently started dosing with ESV's B-Ionic and i've read multiple articles that you can easily over-dose. I was wondering what tests kits you all use for Alk and Mag, since those are the ones i still need/would like to get. I was looking at SeaChem and LaMotte and a few others...I plan on getting into corals and such, I've had my tank up since february and i had planned on doing so for a while and have been putting it off. I told myself that i would set up a fuge first, which i have everything for and should have plumbed eventually. I have also been putting that off too... So, once that is set...i'd like to get some corals, of course ones that are suitable for my tank!!!

sorry about the sidetrackness but i was just wondering what you guys use!!!

Id go with salifert or elos test kits for everything... NO3, PO4, Ca, Alk, and Mag....I use to use B-ionic two part but found it very difficult to even get my levels up to where they needed to be. So the only time ill use them is when i go away on vacation and use dosing pumps to dose the liquid two part.. Even with 60mls a day it still doesnt get my levels up to where they need to be it basically just takes the edge off.

I dont trust salifert test kits. I know they had a few bad batches in the past, and they're not the most reliable. I use RedSea tes kits.

Hello ermano, I like Salifert for Magnesium and API for Alk although recently I purchased Saliferts' test for Alk and it is more incementally accurate.

yes i make my own supplements...That is an argument i do not wish to spark so the best way to go is to just do what you find works for you. Nobody in this hobby does everything exactly the same so it is best to keep an open mind and listen to what others do with successful tanks and take the bits and pieces you want till you find what works for you.

I have redsea test kits, however, the pH/alk one is pretty bad for determining what the pH and alk is.. supposedly there is an "advanced" version of each one seperately- but definitely dont invest in the one that tests for both.
