    I want to add a zoa or leather coral as a starting point, so I have have been checking my calcium levels, which are sitting at 320. I have been using Sera calcium 1 & 2 over the last few days in order to try and bring it up.

    Unfortunately having moved from the UK to Brunei, I have limited myself to, er, 1 option, Sera. I will be ordering Salifert from eBay but until then I have to use the Sera products. Anyway I digress.

    I decided to run a range of tests and here are the results:

    Ammonia = 0
    Nitrates = 0
    Nitrates = 0
    PH = 8.5
    Silicates = 0
    dhk = 7
    phosphates = 0
    cal = 320

    And the real bummer:
    Mag = 1680?

    I haven't added any supplements other then the Sera calcium 1 & 2, so have no idea why my mag would be so high?

    Would this be a dodgy kit? The problem is I don't have access to any other options to test against, all they sell here are Sera.

    If I try to raise my calcium, would that elevate the mag? I use IO as again it's my only choice of salt.

    Thanks for any thoughts
    Peter

    The reason your mag is high is because there is nothing using it.

    Thanks ReefBruh, All I have at the moment is 2 clowns and a coral shrimp. So is that a normal level to expect in tank that only has fish? I also have 100lb of live coral sand and 70lb of live rock
