    Can this be used as base rock for a reef?

    if you show a pic then maybe but if it's just like a regular rock then why not?

    wondered the same thing when i was setting upmy tank. i think i saw something when i was researching it that said it was made of some kind of mineral or something that was not safe for saltwater but not sure.

    That is what I was thinking.I love the shapes I've seen it in-endless possbilities.

    they are awesome looking rock. i hope someone can tell you that they are ok to use. of course if they tell you that they are ok to use i'll be kinda upset with myself cause i really wanted them too. i ordered base rock from liverockusa.com which looks really good.

    Well, it's limestone, but that's about all I know about it LOL.

    Limestone might lower the pH a point or two. And I don't think it is as porous as reef rock.

    earth science! not that it wouldnt be reef safe, just that saltwater, especially with curret could erode it....and as 2in10 suggested it WILL lower pH
