Well, thanks to the economy as of today i am officially unemployed.

I survived salary cuts and hours reductions and 4 rounds of layoffs over the last year and a half to go from a 60 person civil engineering firm to a 30 person firm, just couldn't survive this last one. Its always the last one that gets you.

If anyone knows of anything give me a shout.

i got hit by that bat a few days ago as well. i had my job as an electronics tech for 8 years and it was a family business to boot. now after all this time i gotta go get a real job <shudders> because business is slower than ever and prob work part time - when theres any work - for the old job.

good luck in your job search!

I'm very sorry to hear about that. I really hope you find something soon. We've had two friends recently lose their jobs, both with kids in college. Tough times. :(

I wish you the best in your future endeavors. I'm not going to tell you not to be sad because.....um.....well......you're sad. But you'll get over this.

In the mean time, make fun of other engineers.

I have been in the same boat.

I was laid off Jan 29th, and have not found much out there due to the economy. There seems to be a few more jobs out there now for my field, but not a lot.

Thankfully, UI has been extended another 20 weeks, or I would have no income at the end of June.

Keep your head up, it could be worse, and like I was saying, I see more good white collar jobs posted every day now, so it will happen, hopefully sooner rather than later.

If you keep busy like me with home projects, the time flies, and I have been helping the economy despite my issues by getting the stuff we want, and need, and adding value to our house in the process.

    Tom
