I can't wait either! I am excited to see some of the zoas growing off of their plugs onto the rock. I have a favia that almost died on me during the upgrade, but it is finally starting to bounce back and encrust the plug.

No dslr for me, I think I mentioned that i would love to get one. I use a canon powershot on manual. I agree, this one fish has really transformed the tank for me, both interms of personality and color, I am super happy with the addition.

I have gone through the carbon dosing thread, it is an absolute wonderful read. While I would love to do biopellets I can't really afford the initial cost. From what I gather, vodka dosing still yields impressive results though and at a fraction of the cost which is why I chose this route. Plus i get to have my vodka tonics while I watch my tank. My wife thinks I am nuts though, haha.

Thanks! It is some sort of monti, either an encrusting or plating...not sure. It is growing really well though, I have seen tons of new growth.

    here is a better pic:

I use a Nikon (D90), but I dont have a good lens for aquarium shots. Just cant justify the macro (micro) lens. Im looking at the extension tube (~$70) tho.

I agree, it is an awesome read. If you ever go to the BP route in the future, BRS is the cheapest (as brand new anyway). I have been trying to go as less manual as possible. JM2C.

I must say you have one awesome 20L! I'll admit I haven't read every post, so sorry if it's in here. What are you using for lighting? Unit? bulbs? You have the look that I want on my 20L.

    Hey Coastie,

Thanks! I am actually just using a cheapo odyssea T5HO fixture (4x24W), and I replaced the stock bulbs with wavepoints (2 x 12000K and 2 x actinic). It seems to be working quite well for me. My shrooms do not like to be under direct light (they start to shrivel up) so I need to keep them under the overhangs. And the few sps frags I just added are showing new growth which leads me to believe that I have sufficient lighting with this fixture.

I am doubling my dosage of vodka today, going from 0.1 ml to 0.2 ml. I haven't noticed any change as of yet in terms of algae but I don't expect to for awhile. I do notice that I am pulling more skimmate out in terms of volume, the color is slightly darker than normal but it is hardly any different.

Nice. When I started the BP back in Aug, I had coralline boost in a week! I hope you get it sooner than later!

Yeha I am starting to get some coralline growth on the new rocks, this was starting before the vodka. An explosion would be nice.

I have been wondering about the location of my powerheads recently. Is it ok to have them on either side of the tank or would it be better to have them on the same side?
