Yeah I like it too because then I can blast each island with direct flow, I just thought maybe the overall flow in the tank will be reduced because they will fight against each other in the middle.

But the sps seem to be liking it, so I figure I will leave it as is.

I just added a crap ton of pods to the tank. I ordered them from reefs2go, they arrived as a bunch of little sponge/pads. I shook half the pads out in the display tank and the rest went into the fuge. The display tank is now loaded with pods so frog-face should be happy for awhile.

I now have all the pads sitting in my fuge, and I plan on shaking them out in the display tank once a week. Hopefully this means I can sustain the pod population indefinitely in my system.

    Great news!

I was just feeding some frozen mysis shrimp to the clowns and I tried to spot feed the mandarin like always. Normally he just takes off and hides somewhere but this time he FINALLY ate some of the frozen food! This was the first definitive time that I saw him eating it. He is now cruising around the tank picking the shrimp off of the rock where it settled.

    Very excited and relieved!

Thanks, yeah feels good man. ;D

Its funny, my peppermint shrimp has developed quite a taste for the mysis shrimp as well. He goes completely nutso for the mysis shrimp as well, its like crack. I feed with a turkey baster and the little guy comes right up to the tip and just grabs all the shrimp coming out. It is pretty funny, I will try to get a video the next time I feed.

    I'll see if I can get a vid :)

I have a question about this sps frag that I bought a couple weeks ago. It seems that the flesh is deteriorating. here are a couple pics a couple weeks apart, the area in question is on the base of the left limb where it meets the central part. In the first image you can see some algae there, since that pic, the algae is gone but you can see how the flesh is gone. Is the tissue necrotizing? Should I try to remove that limb?

Also, I am wondering about the downward pointing limb on the right and side...why would it suddenly start growing down like that? Also it doesn't come across as well in the pics, but the limb on the right is visibly different, both in the polyps as well as the flesh. The polyps in the right limb are white whereas on the rest of the frag they are green.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Yeah I think I will, I wanted to post it here too for posterity :)

I actually think that I bought it like this (he says sheepishly), I just didn't really notice it, but now that the algae is gone it is pretty obvious. It is hard to say if it is spreading or not, but I am assuming that that is pretty bad for an sps lol.

I will have to be a little more careful the next coral I buy from the $5 frag section at my lfs... I will just chalk it up to a newb mistake and learn from it. Hopefully I will be able to save the frag.
