What kind of flow are are your shrooms and zoas getting? This could have something to do with why they aren't opening up right now.

I don't think the flow is the issue. They had the same flow before and after they started shriveling up. They are doing better but still not that great in comparison to before.

The duncans and acans I added last week are really looking good. They are gobbling up mysis shrimp and looking very happy.

On another note, I have been planning my LED addition to the existing T5 fixture and I finally decided to just go all LED. For only a little bit more $ I can have a fully dimmable unit over the tank. So that is what I am going with.

Haha I thought you would approve :)

Will do! Although I think the progress will be very quick! I found someone who is selling their 32 LED dimmable fixture from aquastyles already assembled for cheap so I snatched that up quick. The person made a 32 LED fixture with 16 CW and 16 RB on a 7" x 16" heatsink. It has 60 degree optics installed but I will also be getting a set of 90 degree optics in the deal. I am excited but I am a little concerned that the 50:50 won't have the proper spectrum for the corals and I may need to add a few additional LED's (UV and red) to get it right.

Should I be ok with this unit? I was initially wanting to do the DIY myself but it is a good deal for the light so I couldn't pass it up. I realize it is probably way overkill for the 20 long but I can dim it down to get it just right.

So do you think the 50:50 (RB:CW) will be ok spectrum wise to get good growth?

I took some nice pics of my acan and I just wanted to share, these are probably the best pics I have managed to take with my camera. Man would I love to have a good camera.

Also what are those polyps just to the right of the babies in the last pic? Are they cloves or is it just teeny xenia?

    Updates:

I definitely think that I turned a corner with my shrooms and zoas, they are looking much happier than last week. Slowly recovering from their run in with the flatworm toxin.

I think I have been feeding too much as I am getting an increase in cyano and algae dust on the glass. My staghorn is growing well but there are a few limbs that I cant rid of algae, even when I place it directly in front of the powerhead.

On positive algae note, I had to scrape some coralline off of the glass and my rocks are starting to grow some dark red coralline.

I got my LED's set-up yesterday. I love the dimming! I have 60 degree optics but the 90's should be arriving soon and I think I may switch those out. I find trhat the fixture is not lighting the edges of the tank very well so hopefully the wider optics will help. I may even jsut lower the light and go with no optics.

in any case, the colors of the corals are much more vibrant now. I had the blues on full blast with the whites turned off for abit last night and the corals were like little balls of glowing awesomeness!!!

I will take some pics when I get home

Dont we all love dimmable! Keep a close eye on corals especially the ones that placed high. It wont take long to get affected when its too much.
