UVL may make a blue bulb that goes in the fixture just not certain. I guarantee the blue will show.

yeah I have looked into those bulbs as replacements for the 20" fixtures, but it seems like the bulbs are not the right length. The stock odyssea bulbs are 1/4" longer pin-to-pin :(

I don't know if that makes them unusable or not, but i do not want to order the bulbs only to find out that they do not fit.

Major downside of this fixture unfortunately.

Ugh! that is not cool. I think the bulbs would fit but agree on not taking a chance. Shut off the actinics and replace with royal blue LED sounds like the way to go. You might be able to do a little DIY work on the fixture to move the ends a little closer together.

A real bummer indeed. It looks like out of all the sizes the 18W bulbs are the only ones that are not replaceable. Kinda wish I had bought the 24" fixture now...

I will ask around and see if there are any viable options to switchout bulbs without having to move the endcaps.

I may end-up just building an entire customized LED fixture for this tank and use the odyssea fixture for a new planted tank...

The beginning of the end...the GSP is starting to spread!!

This ric seems to be happier with the increased flow.

A couple days ago the entire top of my kenya tree just plopped off. Is this how it propogates? The part that fell off is now behind the rocks.

This guy looks like he is trying to move to a new spot...

Overall I am happy, the tank is going really well, no algae problems (knock on wood). I really want a few more colorful zoas though, I bought a big colony of the pink/peach ones and I fragged a bunch, but they are not terribly attractive.

I have also been thinking of getting a favia, it seems these are fairly easy to keep track of.

    It is looking great ;)
You are correct with the kenya tree, they propagate by "dropping" mini kenya trees

thanks, yeah it was weird with the KT, i assumed that it would just drop one small limb but literally the entire top third of the thing just jumped ship...hah

It was really fast too, interesting behavior, I wonder what triggers the response.
