Gotta say, watching my panther grouper eat is pretty cool! I put in some thrawed out crab meat, it was like he stalked his food, waited behind a rock and then BAM took the huge piece in his mouth in one goulp! Pretty cool thing to watch! And hes only about 3/4 of an inch MAX right now!

I hope you plan to keep him alone or with fish like puffers, lionfish and triggers. They will grow rapidly and eat peacful fish larger than themselves in a heartbeat! Groupers are beautiful but not a good tankmate at all.

I had one in a 180 and he was cool but he sure wiped out his tankmates over time. I also had a blue mineatus(?) grouper that was even neater but just as hungry!

    cool fish Oceanparadise

the colours and alos the simming style, gracefull yet efficient predators
I had one in a 4ft tank and was shocked ! the growth rate could be measured in terms of weeks and not months, for some reason this fish seemed to grow at a rate that was nothing like anything I had experienced before

I panicked by month 3 and took it back to be honest it had gone from maybe 2 inches to over 6 inches in that short time

I had read up on it, knew it would not be a permenent resident in that tank
but was honestly shocked by how temporary , temporary became

Amazing fish and nature gave them great odds of survival with that speed of growth
