Hey Rocket man.... I had a Tunze ATO.... well there is a write up out there that I did. I added an extra pump and did a continuos water change daily using my ATO. The pumps for the Tunze are cheap. With your size tank you woul dwant to keep an extra one on hand because the salt water pump would run more... but they are only $20-$25.

Point being is that setting up a continuos water change is quite easy. I used a Tunze ATO but don't see why the same would not apply to any ATO. My Apex controlled ran it all. Simple as pie. All I had to do on my 90g was change 2 7g jugs every week.

So for you... if you had a drain you can pump waste to it is even easier. With your resivoir it would be no big deal. It was on of the best mods I did. If you are interested I can tell you more. Point being is daily water changes are about 90% as effective as doing weekly ones and the chore is eliminated and stability is much better.

I like the idea of a continuous water change. How were you able to have it so that when you pumped water out for a change, you weren't pumping out "clean" water?

I was thinking about possibly drilling a hole through the floor to the basement(ceiling)...have my plumbing go from the return pump with a tee and ball valve...run 3/4" line to basement and out the basement window, which already has a cut out for the dryer vent. I could add to that by cutting a hole for my water waste line which will go into the ally beside our house.

Chemicals? Wouldn't this be the same as dumping it in the yard or driveway? We don't have a utility sink I could dump saltwater down.
