The 180 gallon steal! (A.k.a. The train wreck)

So here we go! I have had a 29 gallon reef going for almost a year and it has been amazing. My wife and I have thought of upgrading to a 125, when out of no where a local guy approached me with a complete 180 gallon reef system for sale. Well over 10k worth of gear. I picked it up for 1k bucks! Needless to say It felt like Christmas morning! Until however we started the tear down and move process! I'll try to upload some pics. We have been going at this for almost a week now and finally have some great success and almost have out house back to normal!

Very neat! Looks the original owner has a lot of dead material in there though.

its been nuts!

heres a small list of what I scored in the deal:

180 gallon oceanic reef ready display with glass lids
75 gallon acrylic sump
72" aqua medic aquaspace light(3x250w halides and 4x40 watt power compact)
aqua medic 150w halide light for the refugium
huge aqua c skimmer with a giant external collection cup
a korallin calcium reactor that is about 2 feet tall
aqua medic chiller with a medusa controller
milwaukee ph controller for the reactor
dual carbon/gfo reactor
main pump is a dolphin that is huge, skimmer is running on an iwaki
hundreds of lbs of live rock
dozens of other mag drive pumps,hoses, fittings, etc.

boxes full of chemicals, fish food, test kits coral frag supplies....it goes on and on....

 

and for the livestock I received in the deal....

pair of skunk clowns
one large black clownfish
one large ocellaris clownfish
an awesome coral beauty
a hippo tang (about 7" long)
red sea sailfin (about 8-9" long)

the only coral that he had left was a mushroom rock

so right now its basically running as a FOWLR

 

Nice find, I want my next to be a 180
