I'd change the MH on the refugium to LEDs or PC before it evaporates your tank or catches fire.

I've been thinking of that. Evidently the previous owner used this fixture for several years on the fuge with no issues. The evaporation isn't bad, but I'm sure the energy consumption is terrible compared to a smaller bulb. The chaeto grows like crazy however!

I'd second the LED's under the tank. So much heat enclosed would make me feel so paranoid! It looks beautiful by the way, I'd love to do the island thing with the rock is my tank wasn't so small...

Yeah I've got 5" fans on each end of the stand that run when the fuge light is on.

Anaerobic areas are just as important as aerobic areas for denitrification. DSB's are basically creating huge "dead" spots and can be very beneficial.
Good luck to the O.P. the tank looks great.

All of the fish that transferred with the tank are doing well. I have a few others that I would like to add. I'm almost scared to tho because the system is disease free so to say. I planned on doing at least a six week quarantine for any new livestock. But it still scares me! I'd hate to lose one of these beautiful tangs!

Still up in the air. Definitely a nice goby. Thinking of a yellow-head sleeper or diamond goby. Also possibly a foxface. Wife wants a naso yang but I'm not sure if that's going to be an option or not especially since I have a hippo and a sailfin already
