This is just an RO filter with a built in TDS indicator and has an auto flush system for cleaning the membrane.
    • MACGUARD™ FILTER--Automatically measures water use and alerts you when it's necessary to change the system's filter cartridges. Eliminates guesswork. Protects you from filter overuse.
    • EVERCLEAN™ RINSE -- Rinses the reverse osmosis membrane with the high quality water that has already been produced by the system to protect the quality of your drinking water and prolong the life of the system. Kinetico reverse osmosis membranes can last longer than ten years because of this exclusive feature.

So I also saw where the made it were you have to use the filters and membrane that they produce. This RO unit is just automated where you don't have to turn a small ball valve to clean membrane and idiot lights for filter changes.

If you want to buy this I have a special reef rock that no one else has for only 2,500 dollars with coraline algae on it. :D

CA has stricter guidelines when it comes to plumbing. I bet the faucet they sell with it doesn't have a CA required air gap (anti syphon for city water so if the water pressure drops, your sink water, etc. doesn't get pulled into the drinking water supply).
