haha yah for sure, the wife is super supportive though but at times lol

I should do some research on some magnets.. I was thinking the same thing when I thought about putting the sump back under with doors on hinges.. Thanks Dan.

I wanted a seamless look for my cabinet so the whole front comes off.
It's held in place by magnets. It looks really slick but they are definitely more of a pain than just using hinges.

If I were you, I'd do hinges. Nice ones like on kitchen cabinets. The style with the round hold drilled 3/4 of the way into the frame of your door which is where the hinge mechanism sits. There must be a model out there some where which makes it easy to remove the door if you want.
You won't need to do it too often but it's really nice to have the ability to when you need...

Thanks for the input, I will start my researching now. I may even do a hybrid hinges on the side doors and magnets on the front which will be more used.. who knows. :builder2:

Your right about the hinges. They do have some hinges that you can easily remove. Squeeze a couple buttons and slide the hinge out to remove door completely.

I think after close calculations I will be going for magnets. After drilling holes for those hinges you speak of on my last build I hate the thought of doing that again.. :stars:

Great job so far Kyle...if you are mounting the Radion power box behind the display tank, I'd make an acrylic splash shield for it and I use Velcro for my doors. Lowes sells heavy duty Velcro that works great.

+1 on a splash guard. I didn't really have room in the stand and was thinking it would get pretty humid under there for the power box. Plus I hadn't had any idea where to put it. Do you think the splash guard should have vents of some sort? does the power box heat up much? warm to touch? I just haven't had the light running for long enough to test the heating coming from it. The light only ran long enough to program/test things out.

Not sure if it gets warm or not, since setting mine up I have never touched it. I'll check mine out later tonight...perhaps an L shaped guard to air flows through both ends. Only running 1 light? They are suppose to have a 2ft spread but I suppose if you keep the rock work centered it will do great. Those Radions are really powerful...I have mine 8 inches from the water and running at 25% max intensity on my 24x24x24 cube.

I'll have something made up before I get this thing wet. I only have one radion for this build and its 10" above water for now.
