This is how mine is setup too. I'm am going to replace all of the bulkheads and will probably go with a new durso pipe.

I would either run your return over the top, or drill in a new bulkhead for the return. I'm sure there are alot of people that run a single drain pipe, but I would want at least 2. For noise reasons, and for failure reasons. I put a bean animal setup on my 65 and it has THREE 1.5 inch drains to the sump. It's super quiet and I never have to worry about a flood.

Why not do a herbie setup using the 2 bulkheads in the overflow box. And drill a new hole in the back of the tank towards the top for your return?

My return line has 3 90s in it so the flow is slowed down pretty good but it has been doing fine full throttle since I started the tank. I put a peice of eggcrate on the bottom of the durso to stop snails from going down the drain. If it can fit through the eggcrate it will be able to ride all the way to the sump.

I have considered this but noise won't be an issue and I haven't decided if I want to drill the back of the tank. Probably not going to though. When I upgrade from this 90 in the future i plan on doing a full bean-animal on something like a 125 or 150. I just want to keep this one simple and get it running and stable.

Anyone have any updates on their 90s? Any sump or plumbing pics would be sweet too. I'm in the process of figuring out plumbing.
