Maybe I missed this at some point, but why a Mag18? That's a whole, whole lot of flow for a 90, especially with only a 10 gallon sump/fuge. Thinking I must be missing something....

Also, how hot does your tank run? A Mag12 heats my tank up quite a bit, and I've got 20-30% more water volume than you. I've recently been considering downgrading it, just to lower temps some.

No you didnt miss anything, Hunter.
According to approx calculation, I have about 700gph. I thought I was supposed to have certain flow (turnover) rate to have SPSs down the road. Thats why I went with this pump to begin with. It is throttled back a bit, and I might change it to something with bit less rate and quieter in the future.

I dont have heat problems with any equipment I have. The inside of the house is still around 70 degrees without AC. Outside temp could get as low as 40 deg in June around here.

Ah, 70 degrees inside would help quite a bit. A/C struggles to keep mine at 77.

Generally speaking, the turnover rate for SPS is considered via the Powerheads; not the return pump. Some people don't even consider the return pump in this regard. That MP40 should be more than enough flow in your tank for SPS.

The rule on return pumps is 10-20x your sumps volume. Much faster than that and the skimmer in your sump isn't efficient, as the dwell time is too short.

I was running my Mag12 in a bucket with a couple gallons of vinegar/water for a routine cleaning over the weekend, and in a couple hours the water in the bucket was literally around 100F.

Yes they are x2 Koralia 1400's I got a good deal on them from Big Al's $36 bucks each!

I am not to sure on the rock I was going for more of a minimal look I am going to be adding some more after it is done curing.

One thing I wish I would have done when it was still base rock was to drill it with a whole bunch of 3/8" holes. So that way I could just slide a frag plug in and now have to worry about it falling.

Thanks! I assume you are talking about me. :D

I hate the whole frag plug idea in the first place. Its almost impossible to find a spot for them and they dont blend in with the rock work. It might be convenient for shops/sellers, not so much for customers..
    Anyways, keep coming, 90 galloners!
