Hey Everyone- So I thought it would be cool to hear some of the crazy things that have happened to everyone while "trying to do things right" in this hobby. I had something happen to me today that made me think of this. --- oh if you could have been a fly on the wall.

Today I get a new yellow wrasse- Also known as a yellow corris wrasse (I know they really are not a corris wrasse at all. not sure who gave them this name) Anyway..

So I start my drip process and after about 40 min the water I started with is more then doubled and I am ready to put the wrasse in my tank. Now to set the stage - my tank is high and built in to the wall so I am in my fish room climbing up a step latter with the fish in a bucket sitting on the back of the ladder where you would put a paint can. Anyway, I take a step up and SMACK!! I hit the bucket. The bucket tips over, falls off the ladder with all the water, and the fish going directly in to a 15 gallon container that stores all of my fresh RO water for auto top offs. After a brief moment of panic. I quickly move the ladder and grab a net.. Now there are power heads in this container to keep the water moving so I have to shut them off and move them out of the way so I can see to get the fish out. At this point the fish is at the bottom of the container and not moving. (the fish is in fresh water that is significantly colder then the tank water that I just spent 40 minutes working so hard to get him used to.) After 3 secs of thinking I take about a shot glass of the fresh water and put it back in the aclimation bucket and scoop up the fish. From there I took my aclimation tubing and started pulling water from the tank (only a faster rate then a drip) Thankfully after a few minutes the fish began to swim again. Once I got enough water in the bucket that it matched the temp and salinity of my tank I took the wrasse out and put him in the tank. All is well now I think. The wrasse swam around for a few hours this afternoon and now has buried itself in the sand. Hopefully he'll make it..

Oh the stress this hobby can bring at times!!

OMG, I so feel your pain. It reminds me of the night that I had half my rock work collapse on top of my new corals. K+ for the quick thinking and cool head. I hope the wrasse does great and I'll remember for next time, warn the water before doing a fresh water dip.

Yikes!! Rough moment, Hopefully everything pans out for the best! When my friend who cant have a tank was setting up a spare 30g at my house, we finally got it cycled and went to get some clowns she wanted... Got back and when she was acclimating them... I was sitting and watching her and she flat out lost control of the bag and dropped it :-\ Water splashed all over my carpet! was not fun, Clown is still here to this day though!!! Thankfully!

Sure got some laughs out of her, not at the clown though!

oh yeah! +K for luck... :D

That's what I kept telling myself. I was more worried about the 10-12 degree difference in the water.
